About Kira
Kira has always had a broad set of interests, but a common thread has always been nature! In her early youth she devoured books on all kinds of subjects, including mythologies and natural science. It was only natural she took high school classes on classical civilisations, Latin and Ancient Greek alongside physics and biology. When not in school you would find her in the garden or reading more books on herbology.
Studying at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) on the Isle of Skye, she learned Gaelic and took an interest in Celtic culture. Now studying at UBC, she is able to pursue forest science alongside the arts. It comes as no surprise that she is now majoring in Forest Communities, studying the interconnected nature of life communities. She enjoys working with plants, the earth’s gifts, in order to promote holistic health in a responsible way.
Bowen Island quickly took a hold of her heart. Though young and finding her place in the city through modern university life, she is an island girl at heart. She hopes to bring her love for nature to the community through her experience and love for the healing properties found in nature.
Instructed by her mother’s teacher, she had Aesthetics Training from the Aesthetics Institute in Arizona, and learned all about the skin, and her interest in nature and healing led her to combining treatments, with customized herbal essences, oils, and healing touch. Her interest and background in science and biology marries into her interest in philosophy and art. To her, these are not separate concepts, but are different sides of the same coin. It is her goal to assist and guide, and to turn wellness into an art form, guided by a philosophy of strong ethics and care: for the client and for the world at large.
